What is a full hookup campsite

RVs will be equipped with a water tank, appliances that are operated by a 12V battery, and holding tanks. All these setup allows most of the RV travelers to disconnect from the utilities for some days, and camp wherever they want. However, hooking up your RV offers increased comfort, which includes the ability to use unlimited water, and use items that need a great deal of power like air conditioners and televisions.

RV parks like Rio Hondo RV Park offer partial and full hook ups, which is a great option for those looking forward to living in a community. Partial hookups include only electricity and water, whereas full hookups also include a sewer service. Some of the deluxe RV parks also offer hookups for telephone and cable television.

The amenities that are included in full hookup RV parks are discussed below. Water Water hookups in RV parks allow you to connect your RV to the fresh water supply of the campground. Typically, this water comes from the city water supply or a well at the campground and the water is usually considered drinkable. All the RV parks, except the primitive and remote campgrounds, offer water hookups. Electricity Some of the RVs, such as travel trailers and popup campers, use amp electric power, whereas the larger RVs like motor homes, fifth wheels, and some of the travel trailers use amp power.

It is possible to step up or step down the power source offered by the campground. This can be done using designated electric cords that allow amp units to use amp supply or vice versa. Most of the RV parks offer a mix of both types of hookups, even though the amp power supply is the most expensive one.

Some of the small RV parks might offer only amp power supply though. However, all designated RV parks and campgrounds that serve both tent campers and RVs offer electric hookups. Sewer Connection All RVs have built in holding tanks to hold gray water from showers and sinks and black water from the toilets.

Even though these tanks are big enough to hold the discarded water of an average family, the tanks need to be emptied periodically. RV parks and campgrounds offer dump stations where you can empty the holding tanks, but you will need to drive the vehicle to the station or use a portable waste tank to transfer the contents of the holding tank to the dump station. Full hookup campgrounds, however, offer a sewer connection on the RV parking site that allows you to clear your holding tanks without leaving the campsite.

That is, a campground with “ full hookup sites” may have some portion of those sites that do not have full hookups, but just water & electric. Kentucky State Parks Open Year Round All of Kentucky’s year round state parks with camping options offer full hookup sites, except for the the Kentucky Horse Park Campground. What is the difference between full hook-up, preferred and premium camp sites? Hi Eric! It can get a bit confusing when trying to decide what kind of site you need when traveling in a camper, bus, or tent to Walt Disney World's Fort Wilderness.
